Do I have to be in pain to benefit from Align Posture?

No, you don't have to be in pain. Other benefits of posture improvement include increased energy, increased strength, more youthful posture and increased self confidence. 

What are sessions like?

In our first 90 minute session, I will review your health history, learn about any pain you are experiencing and your wellness goals. A full postural assessment is then done which includes posture analysis with photo documentation, videotaped gait analysis and functional testing to help me assess where your body may be experiencing limitations.    


After the assessment I will develop a customized program for you of easy to accomplish exercises specifically designed to enliven posture muscles that have gotten off track due to injury, illness, occupation, sports, lack of activity or poor postural habits.  I will design the program to fit within your lifestyle and time you can devote to the exercises on a regular basis.  You will receive a print out of your program along with a digital version with videos of how to perform all the exercises. No special equipment is necessary for the exercises.   


Subsequent visits will focus on the continued evolution of your personalized program as your body progresses in strength, flexibility, postural changes and most importantly, cessation of any pain and the achievement of your wellness goals.      

How many sessions will I need?

Of course this will depend upon many factors and individual progress will vary. In many cases, clients experiencing pain will have some level of relief in a few sessions, and can even have pain lessening after the very first session. As the body generally responds to this method quickly, clients often report having more energy and a feeling of getting stronger within the first few weeks.    


A typical postural program will be about 8 sessions within 1 to 2 months. Maintenance sessions may be recommended and can be done in person or via skype. 

How is this different than physical therapy?

With Align Posture, we will be focusing on the entire body, not just where you hurt. We look at your body from a holistic perspective, assessing where weaknesses and imbalance have developed that likely play a significant role in your pain symptoms. Our goal is to help you discover how to get yourself out of pain and give you tools that you can use in the future.
